A New York TRACON controller was actually wrong!!!! I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t hear it with my own ears but it actually happened! This video surfaced a year or so ago and quickly went viral for obvious reasons. It’s one thing to make a mistake, it’s another to admit you are wrong. Well, this N90 controller maybe admitted he was wrong….I’m still really not sure. After listening to this I feel like I need to blame the pilot name for some reason and he did everything ATC asked.
Maybe this could serve as a good reminder to “trust but verify” between air traffic control and pilots. If you are ever unsure of something or it doesn’t sound quite right, perhaps question it. It’s better to be safe than sorry! Enjoy this great video!
